Why Vitamin E in Skin Care?

Why Vitamin E in Skin Care?

There are many good vitamins that we can find in skin care. But what exactly does Vitamin E do? We explain what vitamin E is and why you should add it to your skin care.

Vitamin E, also called alphatocopherol, is a natural antioxidant that primarily protects the cell membranes of lipids (fats in the body) from oxidizing. Vitamin E can be used for many purposes and has many uses. You can find the vitamin in products like moisturizers & cleansers. In after sun products and products for stretch marks & scars, vitamin E is often added, due to its repairing and strengthening properties.

In the list of ingredients, you will find vitamin E as "Tocopherol / Tocopherol" on skin care products.

What are the benefits of vitamin E in skin care?

In skin care, vitamin E is an oil that is absorbed into the skin and makes it soft and elastic. Vitamin E has regenerating and anti-inflammatory properties which makes it perfect for dry skin. The vitamin strengthens the skin's resilience, protects the skin and prevents wrinkles & fine lines. It works of course for all skin types and is often added to products for stretch marks and scars as it has a repairing property.

When not to use vitamin E?

Vitamin E is a good vitamin that you can always use regardless of skin type or skin condition.

What effects does vitamin E have on the skin?

  • - Protects the cells from free radicals (eg pollutants, cigarette smoke, UVA / UVB rays).
  • - Strengthens the skin's moisture barrier.
  • - Works anti-inflammatory.
  • - Increases collagen production.
  • - Protects the skin from sun damage (eg pigmentation, reduced elasticity and the formation of wrinkles).
  • - Perfect for dry skin, but suitable for all skin types as the vitamin has many useful properties.

Tip! Together, vitamin C and vitamin E are a perfect combo because vitamin C becomes more potent together with other antioxidants (just as vitamin E is). Feel free to use a product that contains both vitamins (C Love E +) or use e.g. a serum with vitamin C and a cream with vitamin E.
